In the last year, outdoor movies and drive-in movies have become a pandemic-safe way to consume cinema that doesn’t require a streaming subscription. If you’re a fan of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” (or maybe you’ve always wanted to watch the film), you can now watch this cult classic underneath the stars. The 1975 horror film starring Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon, and Barry Bostwick, is returning to the silver screen for a special screening at the Poinsettia Recreation Center in Los Angeles, on October 23. The event, presented by Street Food Cinema, will feature a live DJ along with food and drinks so attendees can enjoy tasty treats while watching the film. The menu includes food from Pacifico Charbroiled, Flamin’ Hot Chicken, Rice Balls of Fire, Stout Burger, and Dina’s Dumplings.

Tickets for Street Food Cinema Halloween Presents: Rocky Horror Picture Show are $18 for general admission, or $23 for reserved seating. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. PST (the movie portion runs from 8-10 p.m). You’ll have to buy tickets in advance for entry into this movie night extravaganza as passes will not be available at the door. The screening will also feature a live performance from Sins O’ The Flesh, LA’s shadow cast of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show.”  There will also be a Halloween costume competition (if you haven’t narrowed down an idea yet, check out our extensive list of costumes ideas) and face masks are required for entry. All ages are welcomed to attend “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” movie screening, but if you’ve been hunting around for a more kid-friendly movie, you might like Street Food Cinema’s “Beetlejuice” screening. It takes place on October 30 at the Los Angeles State Historic Park in Downtown L.A., and tickets are $18 for general admission, $23 for a reserved seating. Tickets for children ages 5-12 are just $6 each ($11 for reserved seating), and children ages 5 and under can enter for free. No tickets will be sold at the door.

The “Beetlejuice” movie night will feature food from local eateries such as Tropic Truck, Boba Ni Taco, Locke Down Barbecue, and Poutine Brothers. There will also be a Halloween costume competition, and an on-sight bar with speciality cocktails, micro-brews, delicious wines, and non-alcoholic beverages. Also on October 30, Street Food Cinema will host a screening of “The Craft” at Griffith Park’s the Autry Museum in Los Angeles (click here for tickets). Attendees are required to wear a mask to check in to any of the aforementioned events, as well as to order from a food truck, or use the on-site bathrooms.
